Annual Event
Familial aspects of breast cancer (BRCA1/2 and unknown genes)
Information Day Background
In 2001, AGSA was approached by a number of people to set up a support group for people affected by an inherited genei mutation predisposing them to certain cancers. At the first meeting it was agreed that an annual information day was preferred. Consequently each year, on the second Sunday in October, an information seminar is held at AGSA.
What happens?
It is an information day with presentations from doctors, genetic counsellors and individuals. Conducted in an informal setting, the day gives people the opportunity to receive up to date information and the chance to share stories. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided for a small fee of $25.00. This includes registration.
Who attends?
Women who are at higher than population risk of the cancers associated with faults in the genes BRCA1 and BRCA2 and their support people. Some people have attended every year for the last four years.
